Spring has sprung and I love that I actually get to spend some time with the sun after being stuck in an office all day. Normally I head to the gym after work (except on days my 10 yr old has soccer practice) but today I decided to take advantage of the sun and get leg day in at home. It was just the toddler and me so I had to entertain him and make sure to get a solid workout in. I like to do cardio in between sets so I had to get creative and incorporate the little one so he would have fun and we can have some quality time. Here is the workout we did:
Squats with barbell 3 sets of 15 reps in between sets I would push him in his bike up and down the driveway for 1 min
Step Ups on box 3 sets of 15 reps per leg and instead of using weights I used him and yelled “Blast Off!” when I would step up on the box (helps with arms and core too)
1 legged squats on box 3 sets of 15 reps per leg and a 1 minute dance party between sets
1 legged lunges on box 3 sets of 15 reps per leg and 25 jumping jacks in between
After my mini leg workout I took him on a walk with our dog.
We enjoyed the outdoors, worked out, spent quality time together, and I was able to burn all his toddler energy so he passed out right after dinner and I got some me time 🙂 Working out with your kiddos is also a great way to encourage them to be active!
