I am not always in the mood to workout and I’m sure I’m not the only one guilty of it.I always try to convince myself every day that I have to exercise. I remind myself “You never regret a workout”, so instead of making sure I workout,I make sure I make time to be active. Having an infant and toddler makes less time to enjoy a good workout. My gym does have a daycare but I would rather be active at home and avoid the germs because my kids are always getting sick. Being active is a perfect way to get your kids in a routine to be active and spend some quality time as well. We also have alot of fun! Here are a few things I do with my kids:
A mile walk in our neighborhood. My toddler especially enjoys this! He loves picking flowers and dandelions along the way. Also pointing out and describing things along the walk to make it a bit educational and expand his vocabulary.
“Stormtroopers and Jedis” My son is big in Star Wars right now. So when I put the baby to sleep I set a timer for 10 minutes and I let my toddler chase me around the house with his lightsaber. I don’t stop just 10 minutes of running around in a circle.
Yoga This is a workout yet an activity my kids enjoy. I lay the yoga mats out in our living room, put on some calming music, The baby does tummy time, I get a 20 minute Yoga session and my toddler is on another mat trying to copy me. Sometimes my 11 year old jumps in!
Tag A game of family tag is a good cardio session!
Now get active with you kids and be creative!
